Destiny 2 Forsaken Baron: the Machinist Boss
Destiny bosses in cinematic fashion!
Cineboss not Cinnabon! Don’t Forget: Like, Subscribe (ring the bell) Are you having trouble with the Machinist boss? Did you enjoy her turtle orbital missile attacks? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
For this fight I used the Tigerspite Legendary Auto Rifle which I found to be excellent with my roll. Check out my Destiny 2 Forsaken Dreaming City hidden items video for a location that has a chance to drop this legendary weapon.
I’m also using my favorite Legendary bow at this moment called “Subtle Calamity” it does void damage and has exploding head as one of its perks. It also dropped with the perk rampage which is amazing and increases damage stacking x3 with precision kills.
Finally I believe I’m running Rest for the Wicked as my sword. Simple rare sword, nothing much to speak of.
Elykris, the Machinist is the second in command of the scorn and the lead up to fighting her involves several rooms full of enemies but you get to drive a tank. After running through hundreds of adds and several fallen walker tanks she will bombard you with her missile attacks before you even enter her lair.
Thankfully this Baron fight takes place within Salvage Zone QX, which is a relatively large room with quite a few different obstacles that make for great cover.
Don’t stay in cover too long however because her orbital missile strikes must be dodged lest she make quick work of you guardian. She also has a scorn cannon that can fire molten ether that explodes and decimates shields. This is a long range attack so don’t ever feel too safe.
There are also acid pools all over the arena that can poison you and do DoT (damage over time) to you. As I mentioned though the arena at Salvage Zone QX is rather large so it is pretty easy to distance yourself.
Throughout the fight Elykris will lead down and get into a turtle position to fire a barrage of her missiles at your location. You only will have a few seconds to move and she can absolutely layer missiles on top of each other in the same location.
She will also summon adds and teleport around the room to any location. Melee fighters be warned you may be able to get a few sword and fist attacks in but she will do an explosive slam to ensure you can’t abuse this tactic. When the Machinist does her orbital strike be ready after the bombardment as she will usually follow up this attack by teleporting and then firing heat seeking missiles from her turtle position.
Elykris will also have her void shield up during most of these attacks. So you won’t be able to damage her and must endure through her strikes.
I found this fight to be pretty epic and really enjoyed a lot of the Machinist boss mechanics. Probably one of the harder Baron fights in Destiny 2 Forsaken expansion for sure.
As with all Destiny bosses sustained fire and critical hits when she is vulnerable will win the day! Good luck out there Guardian!
Destiny 2 Forsaken Baron: Elykris, the Machinist Lore:
“We’re all thieves. Some of us are just better at it.” —Elykris, the Machinist
Elykris, the Machinist, is a Baron of the Scorn. As the second-in-command of the Scorned Barons, she works as the group’s expert in munitions and weapon crafting. She has become infamous for her raids on ships and settlements near Mars, as well as for her role in the Siege of Arran and in the heists after the Solis Descent. After being captured alongside most of her allies, she was imprisoned deep within the Prison of Elders. However, a year after the events of the Red War she was freed by Uldren Sov, and played a role in the murder of Cayde-6 at Sov’s hand. She later took up residence in Salvage Zone QX.
